Safety & Security
The I-Pace comes equipped with brake assist, which applies the maximum pressure possible to your
brakes should you get into an emergency braking situation. Drivers will
appreciate the lane departure warning feature and 360-degree camera option -
the camera is linked to a screen inside the vehicle, so you can see everything
around you - that the Jaguar offers, as well. The I-Pace even comes with a driver
alert monitor that detects when a driver has lost focus and suggests taking a
break.Â
The Model X does not have a brake assist option, a lane departure
warning, or driver alert monitor, but it does have a rear monitor and front and
rear sensors that beep and flash when you're close to an object. It won't
detect objects to the sides of the vehicle.
All electric cars like the I-Pace and Model X have to pass the same safety tests that gasoline-fueled cars do. Both models
have the standard front, back, and side air bags; anti-lock brakes; blind spot
warning systems; and traction control.Â
Warranty
The I-Pace's full warranty is good up to five years or 60,000
miles and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Model X's basic warranty is
good for four years or 50,000 miles.
Battery warranties are typically good for eight years as per
industry standards, but the fine print varies greatly depending on the company.
The Model X's battery warranty is for "infinite mileage" during that
time frame, but it only covers defects, not overall degradation, which happens
over time. On the other hand, the I-Pace's battery warranty says Jaguar will
service and restore batteries that have dropped to below 70 percent of their
original power within eight years or 100,000 miles.Â
Jaguar will pay for regular maintenance, such as oil changes, for
the I-Pace, and because there are more Jaguar dealers than Teslas, servicing
the I-Pace should be an easy task.Â
Performance
Because the I-Pace sits 3 inches higher off the ground than the
Model X, it is better suited to handle rough terrain. It also weighs 500-600
pounds less than the Model X, so its acceleration and maneuverability are
exceptional, which is what you would expect from brands like Jaguar.
Additionally, the I-Pace's standard electric engine surpasses that of the Model
X.
Despite Tesla having produced many electric vehicles, the Model X
does not have an edge over the 2019 Jaguar I-Pace. The I-Pace seems to have the
upper hand in several areas and is a well-rounded, safe, electric SUV. To find
