If you are in the market for a small luxury car, you will probably include the 2018 Jaguar XE and the 2018 BMW 3-Series in your list of candidates. Both of these cars are known for their exceptional performance, handling, and ride comfort. However, if you take a closer look, you may find differences that can help you make a better-informed decision. Check out this comparison between the 2018 Jaguar XE and the 2018 BMW 3-Series.

Performance

Both the SUVs offer multiple engine options, but the 2018 Jaguar XE's engines are significantly more powerful. Its base 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers 247 horsepower, while the BMW 3-Series' standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder manages only 180 horsepower. In a higher trim, the Jaguar's four-cylinder engine serves up 296 horsepower. The BMW also has a more powerful version of its base engine, which puts out 248 horsepower.

The most potent engine found under the hood of the Jaguar XE is a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 that generates 380 horsepower. The BMW 3-Series's largest engine is a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six that produces 320 horsepower.

The 2018 Jaguar XE feels more stable than the 2018 BMW 3 Series because of its 1.65 wider average track. For better maneuverability, it has a turning circle of 36.8 feet, which is 0.3 feet tighter than that of the BMW. Additionally, the Jaguar XE R-Sport model tackles corners impressively with a cornering force of 0.94 G's, while its rival's 340i model pulls only 0.84 G's. It also executes a "figure eight" maneuver 1.4 seconds faster than the BMW 330i.

In road conditions that cause side-to-side drifting, the Jaguar XE's drift compensation steering system makes it easier for you to drive in a straight line. The BMW 3 Series does not have a drift compensation steering system.

Luxury & Convenience

The 2018 Jaguar XE also has several luxury and convenience features that are absent in the 2018 BMW 3-Series. It comes standard with a remote vehicle starting system. This feature is particularly useful when the temperature reaches extreme levels because it allows you to switch on the engine and climate control system before walking out to the car. The Jaguar XE also has an easy-entry system and optional ventilated seats.

Warranty

If you opt for the 2018 Jaguar XE, you will receive a five-year or 60,000-mile warranty.  that covers every component and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The BMW 3-Series, on the other hand, only comes with a four-year or 50,000-mile warranty. In addition, as the owner of a Jaguar, you will get complimentary maintenance for five years or 60,000 miles. BMW only pays for maintenance for three years or 30,000 miles.

The 2018 Jaguar XE and the 2018 BMW 3-Series are both excellent cars that are well-worth your investment. However, the Jaguar seems to offer more value for money with better performance, more convenience features, and a longer warranty.
