2018 JAGUAR I-PACE VS. 2018 TESLA MODEL X

For a few years after it hit the market, the Tesla Model X did not have a real challenger. However, things have changed with the introduction of the 2018 Jaguar I-PACE. Currently, these two vehicles are the only entries in the electric luxury SUV segment, which makes comparison shopping a simple process. Find out how the 2018 Jaguar I-PACE matches up with the 2018 Tesla Model X.

Performance

The 2018 Jaguar I-PACE gets its power from an electric motor that generates 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque, while the 2018 Tesla Model X 75D's base electric motor produces 328 horsepower and 387 pound-feet of torque. The Jaguar's motor also creates 27 pound-feet more torque than the base motor of the Tesla Model X 100D. In addition, the Jaguar I-PACE has a turning radius of 39.3 feet, which is 1.4-feet tighter than that of the Tesla Model X, making it is easier to maneuver in tight quarters and parking lots.

Measurements

The 2018 Jaguar I-PACE weighs 500 to 600 pounds less than the 2018 Tesla Model X. Its lighter body helps improve its acceleration and fuel efficiency. Also, it is 1 foot 2 inches shorter and 6.9 inches narrower than its rival, which further enhances its maneuverability. The Jaguar I-PACE is able to travel over uneven terrain more easily, thanks to its 9.5-inch minimum ground clearance. The Tesla Model X, on the other hand, has a minimum ground clearance of 8.9 inches.

Luxury & Convenience

The Jaguar I-PACE comes standard with a folding center armrest in the second row to provide better comfort for rear-seat passengers. This feature is absent in the Tesla Model X. Additionally, the Jaguar has optional memory for the driver and front passenger seats. It adjusts the driver's seat, outside mirrors, and front passenger seat to suit the preferences of different drivers and passengers. The Tesla only offers an optional memory for the driver's seat. Ventilated driver and front passenger seats are standard in the Jaguar I-PACE HSE, but they are not available in the Tesla Model X.

If you decide to get the Jaguar I-PACE, you can opt for a heads-up display that projects important information such as speed and navigation instructions in front of you. This feature allows you to view the information without diverting your attention from the road.

Safety & Security

The Jaguar I-PACE also has the upper hand when it comes to keeping your family safe. This SUV features a lane departure warning system that alerts you when it is drifting out of its lane. If you do not respond immediately, it will nudge itself back into its lane.

Additionally, the Jaguar comes with a cross-path alert system that warns you of vehicles, pedestrians, or objects that are behind your vehicle or approaching from the side when you are backing out. It also has a driver alert monitor and an optional surround-view camera. The Tesla Model X does not offer these safety features.

Both the 2018 Jaguar I-PACE and 2018 Tesla Model X come with hefty price tags, but they will help you save a lot of money on fuel over the long run. If you are interested in getting the Jaguar I-PACE, stop by Hennessy Jaguar of Gwinnett for a test drive.
