2018 Jaguar F-Pace vs. 2018 Maserati Levante

Building upon decades of experience in crafting luxury sedans and sports cars, European auto giants Jaguar and Maserati are worthy new competitors in the SUV game with cars like their 2018 Jaguar F-Pace and 2018 Maserati Levante. These relatively recent additions to the automakers' lineups are already proving to be valuable additions to their iconic collections.

Performance

Both the F-Pace and the Levante are spacious, comfortable rides underpinned by stunning power and handling. The F-Pace offers several powertrains, starting with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that achieves 247 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. The Premium, Prestige, and R-Sport can be outfitted with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder, a 2.0-liter diesel engine, or a 2.0-liter that reaches 296 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

The higher end F-Pace S model boasts a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 with an impressive 380 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. The top SVR model is outfitted with a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 engine that reaches a stunning 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque. The F-Pace's strong engine choices, sporty handling, and quick acceleration contribute to a truly dynamic driving experience.

In just its second model year, Maserati outfits its four Levante trims with either a twin turbo V-6 or V-8 built at the Ferrari factory in Italy. The base Levante, powered by the V-6, has a maximum power of 345 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The next level, Levante S, also outfitted with a V-6, reaches 424 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque.

The Levante GTS is equipped with a V-8 engine that tops out at 550 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque. The top-tier Levante TROFEO, also boasting the V8, reaches 590 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is a standard feature on both the F-Pace and Levante models.

Luxury and Convenience

Alongside remarkable performance, both automakers bring their decades of focused expertise in producing premium luxury automobiles.

The F-Pace and the Levante both boast posh interior finishes and amenities. Leather interiors and luxury touches like powered seats, leather-wrapped steering wheels, and heated rear seats offer sophisticated comfort. The F-Pace includes a few additional indulgent amenities such as reclining rear seats and a heated steering wheel on some models.

Warranty

In the rare event that something should go awry with your F-Pace or Levante, you can breath easy knowing that both of these autos are covered by comprehensive warranty packages.

The Maserati is backed by a 4-year/50,000 mile limited warranty that also covers corrosion and roadside assistance. Jaguar provides a 5-year/60,000 mile warranty that also covers complimentary scheduled maintenance, as well as a 6-year/unlimited mileage corrosion warranty.

Pricing

The MSRP of the base model 2018 Jaguar F-Pace is $42,065, while the base Maserati Levante starts at an MSRP of $74,050, over 40 percent more.

Both brands like the 2018 Jaguar F-Pace and the 2018 Maserati offer a lot of "wow" factor with their SUV entries. However, Jaguar has a leg up on the Maserati due to the F-Pace's luxury amenities, significantly lower base pricing, and generous warranty.
